POSITION SUMMARY. The Senior Brand Manager, Business Development reports to the Senior Director, Innovation and is based out of our Carneys Point, NJ location. This individual will be responsible for leading product development efforts, and identifying and predicting consumer trends and market drivers for our private label and branded categories.. Manage and provide competitive intelligence (market assessments, competitor profiles, category, consumer, shopper, retailer insights) to validate and optimize concepts to meet strategic objectives. Identify key consumer trends and market drivers and help predict future trends in the marketplace with long-term outlook to help shape product strategy. Develop consumer research objectives and lead qualitative and quantitative research initiatives, including surveys, focus groups, ethnographies, positioning tests and packaging studies to guide business decisions and validate opportunities. Collaborate with Brand team leaders to develop and execute consumer/product market research on their behalf. Manage annual department packaging and research budget to ensure department needs are met. Actively seek market and solution input from Sales, Brand, R&D, and other stakeholders to support product strategy. Lead product development efforts including ideation, scoping, profitability analysis (product cost, investment, competitive landscape, market potential, target price), development, testing and validation, and launch. Author new product concepts & development briefs complete with business objective, bench marks, target costs, deadlines and retail launch date to initiate projects.. Partner with finance on formula target COGs targets and ensure suppliers deliver on pre-set targets.. In partnership with Sales and Finance, deliver P&L, including Y1 and ongoing volume forecasts, along with pricing and trade recommendations to profitably win in the marketplace. Partner with legal/regulatory and R&D on claim development substantiation to develop appropriate support for new product launches. Collaborate with Commercialization team to facilitate active projects through the PLM process from concept through to post-mortem audit. Assist in shaping a culture of creativity and innovating thinking. Assist in development of best-in-class innovation practices and processes. Lead and participate in brainstorming sessions for white space identification and concept/proposition development. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE. Minimum Required Qualifications. Bachelor's degree in Business/Marketing, MBA strongly preferred.. 5+ years brand management experience, CPG industry required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Detailed oriented and can multi-task. Excellent time management skills. Additional Preferred Qualifications. Experience in the food/beverage industry (a plus). Proven organizational skills. Ability to direct, coach and train others.. Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills..
