New Jersey Resources is seeking a Chief of Staff (??COS?) to support the President/Chief Operating Officer (??COO?) by collaborating with the President/COO on the day-to-day administration of various business units within NJR. The Chief of Staff will plan and direct all administrative and operational activities for the Office of the President/COO, and assist in managing related business initiatives, while providing strategic support on effecting operational efficiencies. Major Responsibilities: ? Assists the President/COO in creating, communicating, implementing and sustaining strategic initiatives. Also provides tactical support and serves as a key advisor to and representative of the President/COO? Organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information for the President/COO to facilitate efficient decision-making. Conducts debriefing on critical items as necessary? Acts as a point of contact or gatekeeper for President/COO; assesses inquiries directed to the President/COO and determines the appropriate course of action? Ensures that the strategic priorities of the President/COO are clearly communicated and executed upon; collaborates with the President/COO??s direct reports and team members across the company to ensure that these priorities and related deliverables are executed in a timely way? Provides support to the President/COO including project planning and management, coordinating initiatives and special projects, fiscal management and liaising between President/COO and direct reports and other stakeholders within and outside the company? Maintains the values, principles and objectives of the President/COO and reflects the President/COO??s position in internal meetings to help drive an understanding of the President/COO??s views and expectations? Addresses complex, confidential situations and the needs of stakeholders. Balances the needs of long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands? Develops and maintains exceptional working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders; maintains key relationships on behalf of the President/COO, such as the CEO, board of directors and senior management team. Advances internal and external relationships through effective, direct communication and timely follow-up? Provides organizational support to the President/COO to ensure action items, deadlines, and deliverables are completed? Supports the senior management team??s communications with the President/COO and facilitates decisions or feedback needed from the President/COO? As a representative of and key advisor to the President/COO, provides a strong link between the President/COO??s office and other departments within the company, and between the company and external parties? Provides information and advice to the President/COO regarding key strategic issues. Conducts related research, analyzes and interprets information, identifies issues and prepares and collaborates on solution-based proposals and recommendations. Ensures that accurate information is provided to the President/COO for decision-making. Develops presentations from concept to completion relying on subject matter experts within the company ? Leads President/COO initiated projects as needed. While the majority of President/COO initiated projects will be led by the senior management team or the communications and marketing team, some confidential and time sensitive projects will be led by the COS? Assists in driving efficiencies across key business units, quickly and objectively diagnoses challenges, anticipates outcomes, and proposes innovative solutions? Keeps the President/COO well informed of upcoming commitments, responsibilities and issues that could impact the successful execution of the President/COO??s commitments, follows-up as appropriate? Attends President/COO meetings and attends meetings and conference calls on the President/COO??s behalf. Creates related confidential, time-sensitive documents and presentations (e.g. meeting summaries, agendas, reports, action items, etc.)? Plans and prepares President/COO??s internal and external communications and correspondence in collaboration with the communications and marketing teams, the President/COO??s executive assistant and other stakeholders? Manages the President/COO??s executive support staff. Works closely with the President/COO??s executive assistant to organize and execute meetings, conference calls, business travel, and conferences and events to advance the President/COO??s priorities Position Specifications: ? Bachelor??s degree in business or related field required; Master??s degree is preferred? 10+ years of related experience with a successful track record of leadership and performance within growing organization. Industry related experience is preferred? Proven experience supporting executive level management and driving interdepartmental collaboration? Excellent professionalism, sense of confidentiality and diplomacy; ability to interface with clients, executives and employees at all levels? Proven ability to exercise good judgment on a consistent basis with the demonstrated ability to anticipate needs and take initiative to get things done? Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand audience and lead discussions. Must be able to articulate and explain complex issues to various individuals in different functioning roles, from junior staff to senior management. Proven ability to develop relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness to COO requests and initiatives? Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail? Proven experience providing executive project management support that involves driving solutions and ensuring priorities are met? Self-motivated with the ability to positively influence and motivate others, and use interactions to teach? Ability to effectively work cross-functionally with internal and external audiences? Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to take initiative and critically analyze processes and procedures in a push toward constant improvement? Team player with the capability to take on additional tasks as necessary and adjust to changing priorities? Ability to roll up sleeves and perform the responsibilities needed to ensure success?
