The incumbent is accountable for risk management operations including the integration of risk concepts into strategic planning, and risk identification and mitigation activities. A main priority of the CRO is to ensure that the Bank is in full compliance with applicable regulations, analyze all risk-related issues, and recommend improvements, modifications, and new procedures where controls are needed.Essential Functions*Oversee the Risk Management, Compliance, BSA/AML, OFAC, CRA and Security functions.*Create an integrated risk framework for the entire organization; develop strategies and plans to anticipate, assess, and mitigate risks.*Implement and oversee the Enterprise Risk Management Program with appropriate reporting to the BOD Risk Management Committee.*Administer information security and fraud prevention activities.*Oversee preparation of the Information Technology Risk and Security Assessment including a cyber-security assessment.*Administer the Business Continuity Plan and Vendor Management programs.*Prepare the annual enterprise Risk Assessment for submission to the BOD Risk Management Committee including the quarterly Key Risk Indicator reports.*Evaluate compliance with policies, procedures, processes, laws and regulations.*Review risk assessments prepared by all areas of the Bank. *Act as principal liaison for all regulatory exams and inquiries.*Recommend improvements, modifications, and new procedures to mitigate risk and address inadequate or weak controls.*Manage the agenda and presentations to the BOD Risk Management Committee.*Recommend Board of Director training.*Participate in strategic planning, capital stress testing, Senior Credit Committee, ALCO and Audit Committee.*Maintain technical and professional knowledge by attending educational workshops and training, obtaining relevant professional certifications, reviewing professional publications and books, establishing personal networks, participating in professional associations, and staying informed of any legal, policy and procedural changes relating to enterprise risk management.*Keep informed of industry changes, trends, and best practices, and assess the potential impact on processes and procedures.Job Requirements and Qualifications*Job requires use of critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.*Job requires thorough analysis of information and use of logic to address complexity of data and information.*Job requires developing constructive and cooperative relationships with others.*Job requires monitoring and assessing the performance of you, others, and the organization to make improvements or take corrective action.*Job requires honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior.*Job requires a willingness to take on responsibility and challenges.Education and Experience*Masters degree in business, accounting, or related field.*Ten years of progressively responsible experience with risk, compliance, or legal responsibilities in a commercial bank or similar financial institution.Licenses and CertificationsN/AKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities*Expert knowledge of economic, accounting, finance, lending, risk, and fraud principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.*Expert knowledge of principles and practices relating to strategic planning, workflow analysis and design, policy and procedure development, and risk management.*Knowledge of banking products, services, and systems.*Excellent oral and written communication skills.*Excellent presentation skills.*High reasoning skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.*Ability to think strategically and systemically.*Ability to collaborate and relate well to all kinds of people, build appropriate rapport and constructive, effective relationships, and use tact and diplomacy to handle situations comfortably.*Ability to apply critical thinking to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.*Ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret legal documents, governmental regulations, and professional publications.*Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from the board of directors, senior management, regulators, government agents, attorneys, vendors, employees, and the general public.*Ability to write professional reports and business correspondence.*Ability to speak and write clearly in order to effectively convey information so that others understand and as appropriate for the needs of the audience.*Ability to act in an advisory capacity to the board of directors and senior management.
